Elizabeth Allensworth George is a native born Texas artist whose work embraces a variety of subjects from portraiture to still life and landscapes. Her paintings have been exhibited and are represented in private collections in Texas, Wyoming and the Southwest. She is represented through G. Lee Gallery in Galveston, Texas.
Ms. George’s formal art studies include extensive classes in oil painting, drawing, life drawing, watercolor, and design which were taken principally at the University of Texas at Austin. She has also studied illustration and commercial design in private classes in Miami, Florida. All of her art classes were taken after she completed her B.A. in History and French from U.T. Austin in 1970.
She is a member of the National Society of Artists and several smaller local affiliations in Texas and Wyoming. Her primary medium is oil, but she also embraces pastel, gouache, and watercolor. Her works have been exhibited at the Critic’s Choice Exhibition and the Swiss Avenue Preservation Society Art Fair in Dallas, Texas, Skylight Gallery in Austin, Texas and The Artists’ Studio & Gallery in Galveston as well as the Galveston Art League. She also designed and painted several covers for The Children’s Magazine.
Elizabeth George is married to James W. George, and together they have three grown children. Their time is now split between Galveston, Texas and Story, Wyoming.
